What This License Is
An Arizona Accident & Health license lets you sell health, accident, disability, and related products to people and businesses in Arizona. It is issued by the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI).
Licensing runs through the same process as every Arizona producer line — the difference is the focused Accident & Health exam.
Exam Options & Format
The Accident & Health exam is Accident & Health (Series 13-32, Prometric): 100 (+5 unscored trial items) questions, 2 hr, $38 per attempt. Passing standard: 70%.
Arizona also offers the combined exam (Life & Accident/Health (Series 13-33): 150 questions, 2 hr 30 min, $49), which licenses both lines in one sitting. If there is any chance you will sell life or annuity products later, the combined exam is usually the better value.
Eligibility Requirements
You must be at least 18 and either maintain your principal residence in Arizona or have a legitimate business presence in the state. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen.
A criminal history doesn't automatically disqualify you, but felonies involving fraud, dishonesty, or breach of trust can lead to denial. Answer every background question honestly — misrepresentation is itself grounds for denial.
Passing Score
You need 70% to pass. Your result appears on screen the moment you finish, and PSI reports it to DIFI within about 2 business days.
On practice tests, aim for 80% before you schedule — that buffer is the best predictor of a first-attempt pass, and it matters even more in Arizona where no course forces you to cover the material.
Keeping Your License Active
Important CE details: Verify hours/cycle on DIFI; CE periods and carry-over rules change.
Arizona requires continuing education each renewal cycle. Confirm the exact hours and cycle length on the DIFI site, since these change — and note that P&C and Personal Lines producers have an additional one-time NFIP flood course requirement that doesn't apply to Life & Health.
