Arizona Insurance Exam Guide

Arizona P&C Insurance Exam 2026

Arizona's Property & Casualty license opens the door to the biggest insurance market most agents will work in — homes, autos, and businesses. Like every Arizona line, there's no mandatory pre-licensing course, so you can test as soon as you're ready. P&C carries more moving parts than Life & Health, though, so the 'no course required' freedom cuts both ways. Here's the full path.

What This License Is

An Arizona Property & Casualty license lets you sell coverage that protects against property loss and legal liability — homeowners, personal and commercial auto, commercial property, and liability lines. It's issued by the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI).

As with all Arizona lines, there's no pre-licensing education requirement. Schedule and pass the PSI exam, get fingerprinted through Fieldprint, and apply through NIPR.

Eligibility Requirements

You must be at least 18 and maintain an Arizona residence or a legitimate business presence in the state. A criminal history involving fraud or dishonesty can lead to denial; answer all background questions truthfully.

Exam Options & Format

ExamQuestionsTime
Property & Casualty (combined) 150 2 hr 30 min
Property-Only 75 1 hr 30 min
Casualty-Only 75 1 hr 30 min

PSI Services administers the Arizona P&C exam. As with Life & Health, note that Arizona moved from Prometric to PSI — verify you're on the correct portal before paying.

Most producers take the combined Property & Casualty exam to sell all P&C lines with a single credential. Property-Only and Casualty-Only options exist for narrower roles.

P&C leans on policy forms
Where Life & Health tests provisions, P&C tests coverage forms — HO-2 through HO-8, the PAP, the CPP. Knowing which form covers which scenario is where points are won.

Passing Score

You need 70% to pass, with your result shown on screen immediately. Aim for a consistent 80% on practice exams before scheduling.

Keeping Your License Active

Important CE details: Includes a one-time 3-hour NFIP flood course by first renewal if you sell flood.

Arizona requires continuing education each renewal cycle. P&C and Personal Lines producers must also complete a one-time 3-hour National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) course by the end of their first renewal period if they sell flood insurance — those hours count toward the CE total. Confirm current requirements on DIFI.
